Mason Holgate signed his first pro contract with Barnsley in September 2014. It ran to June 2016.
He made his senior debut on 2 December 2014 in a League One game against Doncaster Rovers - his hometown club. Mason was originally selected as a substitute but was promoted to the starting line-up when Joe Dudgeon suffered an injury in the pre-match warm-up.
He joined Everton in August 2015 with a five-year contract that was extended to June 2021 in December 2016, to June 2022 in December 2017 and to June 2025 in March 2020.
