This exciting youngster continued to make progress at Cheltenham Town in 2000-01 and netted the club's first-ever Football League hat-trick in the 5-2 victory over Plymouth Argyle in September.
He featured regularly until manager Steve Cotterill preferred more experienced players towards the end of the campaign.
Martin was made available for transfer by Cheltenham Town in January 2005.
He joined Barnsley in August 2005 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2009 in April 2007.
