Cameron adapted quickly to full-time soccer after signing for Bristol Rovers during the 2000-01 close season and made his mark by scoring with a brave header on his first start in the Worthington Cup tie at Plymouth. Unfortunately he then sustained a broken ankle shortly afterwards and was sidelined for two months. He returned to the Pirates' line-up only to suffer a further ankle injury against Reading on Boxing Day, but after corrective surgery he was back by the end of the season.

A big striker with a good goals-per- game record, following a influx of signings in the 2002 close season, Cameron's Rovers contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
