Butler formed a lethal spearhead with Jamie Cureton for Reading in 2000-01, the pair scoring almost 60 goals between them and making a massive contribution to the Royals' promotion campaign.
Strong and incisive, he is a very hard working striker who owes much of his improved sharpness to work done with Niall Clark, the club's sports scientist.
Butler's efforts were recognised when he was selected for the PFA's Second Division team and also won the club's 'Player of the Year' award.
