Barlow returned to the Plymouth Argyle at the start of last season after recovering from long-term injury problems but subsequently fell out of favour following a change in management and in March he went on loan to Yeovil Town. However he made just one appearance from the subs bench for the Conference high flyers before he suffered a serious knee injury and returned to Home Park. When fully fit he is a talented play maker in the centre of midfield. Barlow was released by the Pilgrims in the 2001 close season and joined Devon neighbours Exeter City.
