Wright has progressed from a YTS trainee to sign professional forms in April 1999. He made his debut while still a trainee in February 1999 against Oldham Athletic. He spent most of the next two seasons in the reserves and had a loan spell at Glentoran.
Wright was forced to retire in July 2003 due to a hip injury.
