Thurston stepped up to make his Football League debut for Carlisle United at Torquay last October when he replaced John Inglis for the final 45 minutes. He went on to feature on a handful more occasions, earning a 'Man of the Match' rating in the defeat at Brighton.
A promising youngster who can play either in defence or midfield, Thurston was placed on the transfer list in September 2001 before being released in August 2002.
