Platts showed that he had the ability to succeed in the professional game in a handful of outings for Torquay at the beginning of last season but he never appeared to be settled at Plainmoor. His contract with the Gulls was cancelled in October and he subsequently returned north to join the former England star Chris Waddle at Worksop Town. He is a skilful left-sided player who can play at left wing back and in midfield.
