Mark Foran joined Bristol Rovers shortly before the start of the 2000-01 campaign and made an excellent debut in the opening game against Bournemouth. However he subsequently struggled to retain his place and was one of 13 players transfer-listed by the Pirates in January. He turned down the opportunity of a loan spell at Carlisle United and to his credit forced his way back into the side for the final two matches. He is a central defender who uses his height to great advantage and is always a threat at set pieces.
