Ebdon was the safecracker in Chesterfield's midfield in 2000-01. Whereas some try to blow opposing defences open with a big boot, he prefers the locksmith's art, picking teams apart with precision passes. With others around him to do the fetching and carrying, Ebdon concentrated on creativity last term, and the Spireites' few off games mostly occurred in his absence. Ebdon is a free-kick specialist and scored a 40-yarder in the 2-0 win over Exeter in December.
Ebdon joined Leyton Orient in July 2003 on a three-month contract.
