Rodgers spent much of 2000-01 on the subs' bench for Shrewsbury Town and it was not until February that he appeared in the starting line-up.

Having waited so long he scored at Plymouth Argyle on his second start and then netted a hat-trick before being sent off (for two yellow cards) in the sensational 7-1 victory at Rochdale.

Rodgers is an extremely promising striker who is quick, direct and always willing to run at opposition defenders.

He benefited greatly from playing alongside the experienced Nigel Jemson.

Rodgers refused the offer of a new contract in April 2005 and joined Crewe Alexandra in July 2005 with a two-year contract before being made available for transfer in December 2006.

He joined Port Vale in January 2007 with a contract to June 2009.

After a loan spell, Rodgers joined Yeovil Town in January 2009 with a contract to the end of the season.

He joined Notts County in July 2009 with a two-year contract.

After a loan spell, Rodgers re-joined Shrewsbury Town in January 2013 with a contract to June 2013 that was cancelled in March 2013.
