Having developed through the club's youth system, Luke made his Football League debut in goal for Plymouth Argyle against Rochdale on the final day of the 2000-01 season.
He made several fine saves to deny Argyle's play-off chasing opponents and keep a clean sheet.
Luke's promise was further recognised when he appeared for an England Youth XI against a Combined Services team towards the end of the campaign.
Luke's contract with the Pilgrims was extended to June 2007 in April 2004, then to June 2008 in July 2006.
In October 2008, he was jailed for causing the death by dangerous driving.
Luke joined Oxford United in January 2013 with a contract to June 2013.
He re-joined Plymouth Argyle in July 2013 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2016 in April 2014.
