Cornwall made his senior debut for Fulham in the Worthington Cup ties at the beginning of 2000-01 before returning to the club's reserve team for whom he finished the campaign as leading scorer. With too many experienced strikers ahead of him to have any realistic chance of a First Division appearance at Craven Cottage, he joined Grimsby Town on loan as Mariners' boss Lennie Lawrence sought to add some firepower up front.

After taking a short time to settle in, he began to fulfil his obvious potential, scoring two goals in the 3-1 win over fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers and a vital winner against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns.

A pacy striker with considerable goalscoring potential, Cornwall was made available on a free transfer by Bradford City in December 2003. He joined Woking in March 2004 with a contract to the end of the season.
