Full name is: Luiz Carlos Bombonato Goulart.


A true penalty box player and prolific goalscorer, Luizão scored the two goals that guaranteed Brazil's qualification for the 2002 World Cup finals, thus becoming a national hero overnight and ensuring his own place on the trip to the Far East.

He had already enjoyed success in front of a world audience as he was a member of the Corinthians team that won the FIFA World Club Championship in January 2000, notably being the scorer of the controversial tournament's first-ever goal.

He spent 1997-98 with Deportivo La Coruna in Spain having previously played for Palmeiras, Guarani and Parana.
