A tireless midfielder, Luis saved Ecuador's Barcelona from relegation with a last gasp goal in their final game of the 2000 season and has since returned to the club after spending a year in Argentine top flight football with Ferrocarril Oeste. Yet to establish a regular international place after making his debut against Colombia in 2001, Luis is likely to be the cover for the right side of coach Hernan Dario Gomez's midfield in Japan and South Korea.
