Signed on a 'Bosman' free from PSV Eindhoven during the summer, Luc scored on his debut for Villa in the Inter Toto Cup game against Dukla Pribram. He also netted on his Premiership debut when he came off the subs' bench against Chelsea in the second game of the season, volleying home a superb goal into the far corner.
He featured in the next game at Liverpool but then in the following match at home to Ipswich he was involved in an accidental collision with the visiting 'keeper and suffered a horrific double fracture of his right leg. Despite extensive treatment he failed to recover full match fitness and announced his retirement from the game in January.
A talented striker he had great ability with both feet and was always a danger around the penalty area.
