This cool and cultured defender had a fine season with Bristol City in 2000-01 when he was an ever-present in Second Division games and confidently took on the role of captain when Keith Millen was absent through injury.
He impressed with his mazy runs to the by-line and was one of the club's best players during the campaign.
Having rejected a new contract, Louis was made available for transfer by Bristol City in July 2004.
He joined Coventry City with a two-year contract but returned to Ashton Gate in January 2005 in a deal until June 2007 that was extended to June 2009 in May 2007, to June 2012 in July 2011, to June 2013 in June 2012 and to June 2014 in June 2013.
