After loan spells, Liam joined Colchester United in July 2004 on a two-year contract.
He then joined Preston North End in a two-year deal that was extended to June 2010 in August 2007.
Liam joined Notts County in July 2010 with a two-year contract before he was made available for transfer in May 2011.
After a loan spell, he joined Port Vale in January 2013 with a contract to June 2013 when it was extended to June 2014.
