Unsworth joined Crewe Alexandra from Ashton United and went on to make some 150 appearances before joining Bury.
Unsworth had a wretched time with injuries at Bury in the 2000-01 season.
Although he started the campaign as first choice right back, he was sidelined early on after suffering an ankle ligament injury against Northampton Town.
He returned to the first team in October but in January he was out again with a serious knee injury.
However, he came back again in mid-April only to break a toe at Reading and he failed to recover full fitness by the summer of 2001.
Unsworth signed a new one-year contract at Bury in May 2004 that was extended to June 2006 in May 2005.
