Joined Derby County initially on loan in February 1995 and move made permanent in March. Lee did well for Bradford City in the pre-season Inter Toto games, scoring three times in five appearances before Portsmouth paid a club record fee for him shortly before the start of the new campaign. However he had a frustrating time on the south coast, suffering a bad knee injury in the game at Stockport in October that was to keep him out of action until the new year. He eventually made his comeback in Graham Rix's first match in charge, but found it difficult to thrive up front in a team struggling against relegation. A hard-working target man he gave two superb performances in the centre of defence as an emergency replacement for the injured Darren Moore.
Lee joined Telford United in July 2003 in a one-year deal.
