West Bromwich Albion's leading scorer yet again, Lee Hughes was as sharp as ever during the 2000-01 season, scoring his usual mix of stunning goals and gifts handed to him on a plate.
He hit a purple patch in November, netting successive hat-tricks against Gillingham and Preston North End and his partnerships with Jason Roberts and Bob Taylor certainly caused a lot of problems for opposing sides.
A fast and direct striker who is a real workaholic and has a superb eye for goal, he scored in the first leg of the Play-Off semi-final against Bolton Wanderers.
After serving a prison sentence, Lee joined Oldham Athletic in August 2007 with a two-year contract.
He joined Notts County in July 2009 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2012 in July 2010 and to June 2013 in October 2011.
Lee joined Port Vale in January 2013 with a contract to June 2013 that was then extended to June 2014.
