Clark had a tremendous season for First Division champions Fulham in 2000-01 when he was a near ever-present and scored seven valuable goals.
An attacking central midfield player, his forward runs often left space for others to come through and he set up many chances for his colleagues while still finding time to help out in defence.
Clark was one of six Fulham team-mates named in the PFA's Division One team.
He returned to Newcastle United in August 2005 on a monthly contract.
A true local hero, Clark excelled in his opening eight year spell in the Toon midfield and was delighted to accept Graeme Souness' offer of a second spell at St James' Park at the start of the 2005-06 season.
