After a disappointing time in 1999-2000 the Norwegian international midfielder returned to Scandinavia in the summer to train with his local side in order to prepare properly for the upcoming season with Derby County. A skilful player with good passing abilities he still tended to struggle with the more physical side of the game. Unable to get into the first team he was restricted to reserve appearances only, returning for one game at Chelsea before his contract was cancelled in January and he moved on to Danish club Lyngby.
