Watson captained Rotherham United to promotion from the Second Division in 2000-01 when he was the only ever-present player in the squad.
A midfield play maker who spreads passes around to great effect, he took the majority of free kicks and corners and enjoyed a purple patch of goal-scoring in October when he netted in four successive games.
His efforts were rewarded with the offer of an extended contract before his current one had expired.
Watson was made available for transfer by Reading in November 2003.
Watson's contract at Colchester United was extended to June 2007 in June 2006.
He joined Luton Town in August 2008 with a one-year contract.
