Rejected by Middlesbrough as a youngster, Kevin made the most of his second chance on Tyneside. Although he had to be patient, the big centre-half progressed to become United captain and missed only one game of the 1992-93 Division One title-winning campaign. He later played under former boss Ossie Ardiles at Tottenham Hotspur.
