Kevin Donovan

Donovan missed the early part of 2000-01 through injury, but returned to the squad at the end of September and quickly showed that he had returned to his best form. Whether playing in his favoured position wide on the right of midfield or in the hole behind a lone striker he produced some fine performances. He created numerous chances for his colleagues with his pace and ability to run at and beat opposition defenders and netted five valuable goals himself.

Grimsby Town manager Lennie Lawrence was sorry to lose him to Barnsley on a Bosman free. Donovan was made available for transfer by the Oakwell club in October 2003 before his contract was cancelled by mutual consent a month later. He spent two months at Rochdale on non-contract terms from December 2003.
