A popular figure especially at Everton, Kevin's Arsenal hopes were hit by the phenomenal rise of Ian Wright.
Evertonian soon took Super Kevin to their hearts when his goals helped save the club from relegation in 1998 and he went on to pass some notable milestones in 2000-01.
He finished club top scorer for the third successive season, a feat not managed for almost a decade at Goodison, and was also named as captain of the club - an achievement he was justifiably proud of.
Kevin did not show quite the same dash and drive he had managed in previous campaigns but he was asked to lead the line on his own on numerous occasions due to injuries sustained by strike partners Duncan Ferguson and Francis Jeffers.
He also had injury problems of his own to overcome and did not start a Premiership match for the club until mid-September, but after that he remained pretty much an ever-present.
Kevin joined West Bromwich Albion in January 2005 with a contract to June 2006.
