Keith Welch

Welch once again performed consistently in goal for Northampton Town in 2000-01. A vastly experienced 'keeper he is confident, calm under pressure and excellent at handling crosses. He also showed his versatility with a willingness to dribble the ball out of tricky situations when outside of his penalty area. He rarely missed a match throughout the campaign.

Welch was released by Northampton Town at the end of the 2001-02 season and joined Tranmere Rovers shortly before the start of the new campaign on a one-month contract to cover the absence of the injured John Achterberg. His contract was subsequently extended for a further month but he briefly moved on to Torquay United on a non-contract basis before agreeing to join Mansfield Town on a similar basis in February 2003.
