A pacy and aggressive striker, Keigan joined St Johnstone as a 16-year old and made his senior debut soon afterwards.
He became a regular in the first team during 2000-01 when he scored ten goals for the Perth club.
Having previously been capped by Scotland at Under-18 level, he made his debut for Scotland Under-21s against Poland in April 2001 with observers making comparisons with Ally McCoist who also began his career with Saints.
Keigan joined Blackpool in July 2004 on a one-year contract that was extended to June 2007 in July 2005, then to June 2008 in June 2007.
He joined Huddersfield Town in July 2008 with a two-year contract.
Keigan joined Oldham Athletic in July 2009 with a one-year contract.
