Junior Lewis produced some excellent performances for First Division new boys Gillingham in the first half of 2000-01.
Such form drew the attention of his old boss Peter Taylor and, in January, he moved to Leicester City on loan, the deal becoming permanent in March.
He took over the anchor role in midfield and performed his duties steadily and effectively.
He settled in well, keeping his passes deliberate and simple, but usually finding a blue shirt.
When the team was playing on form, Junior even found the confidence to supply the odd defence-splitting ball, but found himself a little overwhelmed in the aftermath of the Wycombe Wanderers FA Cup debacle, when he was asked to shoulder the main midfield responsibilities while Muzzy Izzet and Robbie Savage were injured.
In February 2002, Junior was following in Peter Taylor's footsteps again when he joined Brighton and Hove Albion on loan until the end of the season.
Having also been together at Dover Athletic, the Taylor-Lewis partnership was re-united for the fifth time two years later when Junior joined the England Under-21 coach at Hull City on loan to the end of the 2003-04 season.
He completed a permanent move in July 2004 with a one-year contract.
Junior joined Brentford in August 2005 with a short-term contract.
