Watts joined Rotherham United from Frecheville CA. He has made about 230 appearances for his various professional clubs. Watts is an accomplished central defender who is strong in the air and tenacious in the tackle. He produced some confident displays at the back for Luton Town last season, his experience steadying the young defenders around him but he missed two months of the campaign with a hamstring problem and was unable to prevent the Hatters from being relegated to the Third Division.
