João Virgínia, who played for Benfica during his youth career, joined Everton in August 2018 with a three-year contract that was extended to June 2024 in September 2020 and to June 2025 in July 2023.
He was selected on the Toffees' subs bench for the first time on 29 August 2018 in a League Cup tie against Rotherham United.
