Previously capped by the Republic of Ireland at Under-16 and Under-18 levels, Jonathan Douglas made his senior debut for Blackburn Rovers in a League Cup tie against West Ham United at the end of October 2000, and also later featured in the FA Cup Third Round tie against Chester City.
As a promising young midfield player, he appeared surprisingly at ease with his ability to spot the breaking striker and deliver a measured pass to him.
Jonathan's contract at Blackburn was extended to June 2007 in June 2004.
He joined Leeds United in August 2006 with a three-year contract.
Jonathan joined Brentford in July 2011 with a two-year contract that was extended to June 2016 in February 2015 before he was made available for transfer in July 2015.
He joined Ipswich Town in August 2015 with a one-year contract that was extended to June 2017 in April 2016.
