Jon Whitney often had to be content with time on the bench in the 2000-01 campaign due to the fine form of other Hull City defenders.
However with Steve Harper's departure to Darlington in February, he stepped in at left-back only losing his place when Andy Holt arrived from Oldham Athletic.
When Andy was moved further forward, Jon returned to the team and responded with the opening goal in the local derby with Scunthorpe United which set the Tigers on their way to victory.
He followed with a series of typically solid performances to help guide City through to the play-offs.
