A strong hard-tackling full back, John Sillett was signed for Chelsea along with his brother Peter (their father Charlie played for Southampton).
He moved on to Coventry City where he won a League Division Three championship medal in 1964 and later, as manager, led the Sky Blues to their FA Cup Final success against Tottenham Hotspur in 1987.
