Robertson moved south of the border to join Oxford United in the summer of 2000 and although he faced the difficult task of replacing the long-serving Les Robinson in the U's defence he established himself in the side and rarely missed a game all season. He is a reliable right back who is sound defensively and likes to push forward down the wing. He was reported to have rejoined Ayr during the summer.
