PositionDefender/Left back

This left-sided Blackpool defender missed the first ten weeks of the 2000-01 campaign after pulling a hamstring in a pre-season friendly.

He returned to the Tangerines' first team at Mansfield Town in October but suffered a recurrence of the injury at the turn of the year and was absent for much of the second half of the season.

John likes to get forward and delivers a good cross from the flank.

His enthusiasm and commitment to the cause make him a crowd favourite.

He was back in the team for the Play-Offs and scored a valuable goal in the second leg of the semi-final against Hartlepool United.

John joined Gillingham on a two-year contract in June 2003.
