Eyre was badly affected by injuries in 2000-01 but recovered to play an influential role in Hull City's campaign to reach the Play-Offs.
He suffered a recurrence of a back problem in September and didn't fully recover until February.
However, he came back with two goals in the 2-1 win over Barnet and ended up competing with Rodney Rowe for a place as Kevin Francis's strike partner.
Eyre finished the term by netting the Tigers winner in the Play-Off semi-final first leg against Leyton Orient to make him the club's leading scorer for the season.
He is a striker with good skills on the ball who is capable of upsetting defences with his direct style.
Eyre agreed a new two-year contract with Oldham Athletic in August 2003.
