Eire International
Irish international John Aldridge arrived at Anfield from Oxford United where he had established his reputation as a prolific scorer. He replaced Ian Rush and moved on to Tranmere Rovers when Rush returned to Anfield but not before adding the 1st Division Championship (1988), FA Cup (1989) and FA Cup runner-up (1988) to his list of honours. He later managed Tranmere Rovers.
