Although denied first-team action by the fine form of regular 'keeper Mike Pollitt, Joel was actually the only Chesterfield player to appear on every team-sheet in 2000-01. He played in the Worthington Cup first round first leg tie at Port Vale when he showed considerable bravery and also came on as a substitute for the last few minutes of the final game of the season against Halifax. Agile and quick to come off his line he is a fine goalkeeping prospect.
