With Newcastle United, FA Cup winner 1951, 1952. One of the club's greatest-ever servants, Joe was associated with Newcastle for most of the post-war era up to his dying day. An uncompromising wing-half, most notably, he captained the Magpies through the glory days of the forties and fifties and was manager of the United side that lifted the Fairs Cup in 1969. .
