Former Republic of Ireland U-19 and U-21 international with some 350 club appearances under his belt. Joe was Colchester United's 'Mr Reliable' in 2000-01 once again producing a series of gutsy displays throughout the campaign. He suffered a serious gash to his face at Luton in November, but although the wound required more than 30 stitches he was back in action in a matter of weeks. A committed right wing back he scored just one goal during the season, netting with a great header to earn the U's a vital 1-0 win at Oxford in January.
Joe retired due to a knee injury in April 2003.
