The first player to be capped by England whilst playing outside of the Football League, typical of his flamboyant character, Joe Baker arrived at Highbury via Hibernian in Scotland and Torino in Italy.
Signed by new Gunners boss Billy Wright for £72,500 in 1962, the natural-born crowd pleaser netted 100 goals in 156 Arsenal appearances.
A Liverpudlian with a Scottish accent, although unpredictable, his commitment could never be questioned.
Nottingham Forest and Sunderland also benefited from his remarkable skills before he made an emotional return to Hibs in 1971.
