This London-born midfielder endured another frustrating season as he strove to claim a regular first-team place at Chelsea in 2000-01 in the face of intense competition.
He spent the campaign shuttling between the starting line-up and a place on the subs' bench.
However, his prospects looked brighter after Claudio Ranieri's appointment and his publicly stated desire to build a young team with an English backbone.
Along with fellow Under-21 internationals John Terry and Jon Harley, he formed a triumvirate of the brightest of home-grown talent at the club.
His midfield partnership with overseas youngsters such as Mario Melchiot and Sam Dalla Bona augurered well for the Blues as some of the older players began to be replaced.
Having forced his way into the side, Jody had the misfortune to suffer an ankle ligament injury in the FA Cup Fourth Round tie at Gillingham and was sidelined for several weeks.
Jody's contract at Leeds United was cancelled in March 2004 before joining Rotherham United with a contract to the end of the season.
Jody joined Millwall in July 2004 with a contract to June 2006 that was then extended to June 2007.
He joined Bristol City in June 2012 with a one-year contract that was cancelled in January 2013.
