A double Championship winner with Portsmouth, Jimmy was bought for the considerable fee of £22,250 to replace Joe Harvey as Newcastle's captain. The ultra-competitive right-half led United to their third FA Cup Final success in five years, against Manchester City at Wembley in 1955. He clocked up a career total of over 600 appearances.
