Jimmy Ross joined Liverpool for a then record £75 from Preston North End. He scored a penalty in the first Anfield derby on 17 November 1894 to rescue a point for Liverpool and helped Liverpool win the 2nd Division Championship in 1896.
He also played for Edinburgh St Bernard's, Preston North End (amateur).
