Jim McIntyre was a regular in the Reading line-up for much of last season filling the problematic left-midfield berth as well as anyone. A tidy and thoughtful player he crosses the ball accurately and is adept at slipping in at the far post to convert chances. It was therefore something of a surprise when he was given a free transfer by Royals' boss Alan Pardew at the end of the campaign. He made his entry into English football at Bristol City in 1991 when he joined the Robins from Duntocher BC.
