Furnell helped Liverpool gain promotion in 1961-62 before breaking his finger the following season, losing his place and moving on to Arsenal. Between Jack Kelsey and Bob Wilson, Furnell was the most regular Arsenal keeper of the mid-sixties. He lost his place following the 1968 League Final defeat.
