Like Peter Kjaer, Jesper played club football in Scotland. He joined Rangers from OB Odense in October 2000 although, due to limited opportunities with the Ibrox giants, he later returned to Denmark in a loan spell at Vejle.
He remained the third-choice keeper at Rangers, his same ranking in the national squad. However, with time still on his side, Jesper became the latest Danish goalie to carry the 'new Peter Schmeichel' tag.
