This promising young Leyton Orient striker was again among the leading scorers for the club's youth and reserve teams in 2000-01. He added just a single first-team appearance, coming on from the subs' bench for the final 15 minutes of the Worthington Cup Second Round second leg tie against Newcastle United.
In January, he had a spell on loan at Dr Martens League club Chelmsford City and in April he was a member of the Orient team that defeated Bradford City to win the Football League Youth Alliance Cup. After being released by new manager Paul Brush, Jay joined Barking & East Ham United.
